Restore lost capacity of the USB flash disk

Due to malware activity or other (un)deliberate user actions the capacity of your USB flash disk may be reduced significantly. Capacity of your disk may stay reduced even if you peform a format of that disk. Don’t worry, with this tutorial you can restore the full capacity of your memory drive.
Required software tool: BootIce [portable] ; DOWNLOAD

Warning: back up your data, because the following procedure will reformat your flash disk.

1. Insert USB disk in the computer

2. Extract the downloaded archive and run BootIce (if you use Windows Vista, and successors run it with right mouse click choosing an option: Run as Administrator).

3. The following window will appear:

– double check that destination disk shows the right USB flash disk.

– click on Parts Manage button

4. The following window will appear:

– click on the ReFormat USB Disk button

5. On the following window:

– select radio button: USB-HDD Mode (Single Partition);

– Radio button: Align to cylinder also needs to be checked

– click on the Next button.

6. Small dialog box will come up; select FAT32 or NTFS, according to your preference and click on OK.
