While it might look like it’s enough for a thumbnail dimension, lots of users would prefer a larger thumbnail size when they hover a taskbar. So let’s change this in a few easy steps. The Registry editor will be used to perform this task.

Open the Run dialog box with Windows key + R, type regedit and press Enter:

Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Taskband

Right mouse click on the white surface in the right pane and select Create the new DWORD (32-bit) Value:

* Note: select 32-bit value on the x64 Windows, as well.

Name the new item MinThumbSizePx:

Edit the DWORD Value and type e.g. 400 in the Value data text box:

* Value 300 or 400 will be enough for the most of the users.

OK, to apply these changes it is necessary to restart Windows Explorer; start Task Manager (right click on the taskbar and select Task Manager or use CTRL+SHIFT+Escape shortcut), find Windows Explorer process, select it and then click on the Restart button:

Now hover on the taskbar items and you will see that you made taskbar thumbnails bigger 😉 :
